What it's like to live in La Paz
La Paz offers a calmer, more Mexican alternative to Los Cabos. Its five-kilometre Malecón faces sunset over the bay, and Espíritu Santo island, whale-shark swims and sailing are part of everyday life.
Baja Sur is a drive from the US border, so many residents bring their cars down the peninsula. Summers are very hot and the city is relatively isolated from mainland Mexico, which increases the cost of some goods.
